He serves on the New York State Planning Committee & the New York State Youth Board. Additionally, he is actively involved with the Ministers Alliance, where he served in the capacity of Vice President for two years and also in that of Treasurer for the Alliance in his community. Raymond earned an Associate of Christian Studies Degree (ASC), and a Bachelor of Theology from International Seminary (Th. B). He did graduate work with Atlantic Seminary in Biblical Studies, and he is presently engaged in graduate studies with Newburgh Seminary in Christian Counseling.
He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of New Life Worship Center, which was founded by him and his wife Barbara Rose. His family plays an active role in many areas in the church and is an integral part of the body of Christ. Their desire is to build and develop a body of people that displays a deep passion for the souls of men, and by extension become actively involved in ministry.
At an age when most young people are distracted by the toils and adolescent pressures of life, Raymond Rose found his calling in the Lord at an early age. His foundation in the church began with the Church of Nazarene up until his late teens. He attended Petersfield and Godfrey Stuart High School before leaving the country and moving to Kingston, Jamaica. He continued his education at St. Andrew Technical High School (Trades) in Kingston. Shortly there after he met his wife Barbara Rose. Their relationship was built on a God Fearing Foundation. They were a part of a Christian group called the Gem Ray Singers who ministered to the saints and unsaved souls.
Through his wife he was introduced to Church of God. A co-worker of Barbara’s who attended the Portmore NT Church of God was seeking a cricketer to play for the church. Through cricket the Church of God relationship began and as they say, the rest is history. In six months he took right hand of fellowship. He was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. The Church of God emphasized the conviction of the Holy Spirit. This is what turned the very shy and timid youth to speak with boldness. In addition he was under the leadership of the effective and charismatic leader W.A. Blair. As Paul writes to the church in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
He quickly gained a mentor, in the late Pastor Eric Lewis, who from early on could see the many gifts and talents God had deposited inside this young man. His guidance and encouragement transformed Raymond Rose into many roles in the church. He taught convert class; he was a youth leader, praise and worship leader, prison ministry, and evangelist.
He took evangelism very seriously and became a part of a militant group in the church called, The Portmore Youth Crusaders. He was the president of this group. They were very aggressive in winning souls. He ministered to unsaved souls, the Portmore communities, and those imprisoned. Raymond Rose became radical for God, he would use a simple car ride to church, as a tool to spread the good news of the gospel.
In his twenties he received training in Marketing & Management at the University of the West Indies. He was also trained in Public Relations and Counseling at the school of continuing Studies/Extra Mural, UW. The skills he obtained in his training only further helped his mission for God. The relationship between the public and the church is very important. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the WORLD, he gave his only begotten son. For it is what we do for the least of them.
He also received formal training in Evangelism and received his first Theological Training at the Kingston Campus of Bethel Bible College, while a member of the Portmore Church of God. This training encompassed the plan of God, but Raymond Rose did not see that vision early on as a servant. “I did all of these courses not so much conscious of wanting to be a pastor.” “I naturally just wanted to know more about the Lord.”
Now in the early nineties his Pastor's Wife spoke into his life the calling of ministry and pastoring a church. He was then given a new assignment to serve as the interim pastor for countless congregations, which unknowingly was preparing him for his own flock. “Even then I did not see myself in that manner, but that I was available and had the ability to complete the task.” Now he was also acting as a Senior Pastor and National Evangelist under the COG.
Even in your stability and comfort God uses you in ways that are out of the box. In 1998 he migrated to the United States. This was not in his plans or desires, but God had his own agenda. He started worshipping at True Life COG in Wyandanch. He quickly became an active member in his new congregation. He served as Youth Pastor for over eight years and Youth Director for District 24 over three years. His love for sports, which brought him to the COG, lead him to start Sports Day on District 24.
His call for public service continued in the States. He and his wife served as teachers at the Wyandanch Library for people who wanted to obtain their GED. His love for imprisoned souls sustained in his work at the Otisville Correctional Facility and the Westchester Women’s Correctional Facility.
His fellowship with True Life was faithful, but this is when the call started on his life to begin his own church. He had to give birth to the vision. This preparation started in 2006. In May of 2007 New Life Worship Center was born. His vision for Amityville, New York was planted. The Great Commission began. The same skills and practices he used in Public Relations he leaned on to pass out tracks, flyers, and evangelize to the community God laid on his heart.
